Who are we?
The Innovation Labs are a set of spaces built for experiential learning, consisting of a fully equipped makerspaces, incubator, and event space open to all DU students, faculty, and staff.
What Do We Do?
We provide access to tools, knowledge, and mentors to assist with prototyping and creative works.
Polices

- Physical: Tool and consumables are present and functioning.
- Procedural: Easy to find and use/ figure out how to use.

- Secondary Resource Referencing
- If we don’t provide a service, help to check if there are other on-campus providers.
Use
Use of the Innovation Floor equipment is a privilege, not a right. Failure to follow safety and use policies can result in a loss of privileges.
In the Innovation Floor, you can make anything you can imagine- as long as it's NOT:
- Prohibited by local, state, or federal law.
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others.
- Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the DU environment.
- In violation of another’s intellectual property rights;
- For commercial manufacturing
Examples
- For example, the 3D printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection
- The equipment can be used for prototyping new commercial ventures, but not for manufacturing runs
Fair Treatment (Inclusive Excellence)
Discrimination of any kind, including but not limited to: age, race/color, religion. pregnancy, disability will not be tolerated.
This is enforceable by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and any breach of this will be handled accordingly.
Conduct

- Operation of machinery and tools
- Material usage and storage
- Conduct within the space
Any violations of the safety of the space will be looked at as a violation of contract and will be handled accordingly.
Attendance
You are required to attend all of the hours you are scheduled to work for. Absences are inexcusable unless adequate reasoning is given.
Professionalism
As an employee, you will be a representative of the space and as such, it is your job to present the space in accordance with the core principals of the space. You must be willing and able to help the needs of members of the space and control any issues that may arise.
When on-hours, you are required to be present in the space and prepared to deal with the needs of the DU community. Because of this there needs to be discretionary use of social media, headphones, and any other form of distraction that could lead to you being unable to adequately handle a situation.
Base Operational Understanding
You must have the knowledge or be willing to partake in the training necessary to have an operational understanding of the space. Failing to understand all of the core principles makes you not only a liability, but also a detriment to the space.
Familiarity and confidence are something that must be achieved, even if it requires more hours than allotted for your schedule. ASK FOR HELP.
Enforcement Powers of Employees
It is your responsibility to keep the floor safe and accessible.
